I've been interested in a government job for some time but I'm completely clueless as to how to search. My goal is cybersecurity (I'm Net+ and Sec+ certified) but I'm looking for something entry-level. How can I tailor my search to look for those positions? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
Government jobs always complains that they don’t have enough workers, yet their hiring process takes months to a year or so. Sure its always lack of budget resources yet so Counterproductive. Lets be real

USAJOBS is the worst hiring site in the planet. I applied to over 250 jobs and Not a single interview. I been doing this since 2010. I gave up in 2021.

"12 month Roster" or "6 month Roster" next to the job title on USAJobs. Would anyone help please?

Hello Armand, I appreciate it if you could please answer me too. I have been referred to multiple announcements. I still get a reffred to the hiring manager notice every now and then. After monthes waiting, I got to a point where I think they just all get stuck at this level! I search on interenet or ask around to see if any body without having a connection at the organziation or being internal (maybe researcher, student, doc, post docs..) has ever gotten to the on site interview step. I feel like this is not a reliable job platform atall. What is your advice for me ?!

I’m a first time applicant applying to federal jobs and have applied to multiple. I hear back from them sure and say I’m tentatively eligible, but not referred to the hiring manager. I have been looking at GS-5 and 7 series because I was advised by a recruiter to look at those to start out.
It’s mostly for the GS-7 series where I’m not referred to and when I’m referred for a GS-5 series, I seldom hear back. For the ones I do interview and hear back, it’s a rejection.
Is there something I’m doing wrong? Should I have different resumes for each job series?

I am a retired Army 1SG, and I have applied for HR positions and one job announcement has extended the "closing" date twice. Should I take that as notice to move on?
If I have question about a job such as schedule and the option of compressed schedules or on-site employee dorms (dod) but on the announcement there's no contact information for a hiring manager is it best to apply and go for the interview with to ask these questions? since there's no point of contact what do you recommend if you have some deal breaking questions you need to ask thank you for all that you do plus I you do a video on compressed work schedules or alternative work schedules as that is a more important to some people than money

Trying to get a government job without insider connections or 10 point preference or both is almost pointless. If you are a civilian, dont waste your time. Your resume is literally at the very bottom of a very long list. Good luck.
