This video was uploaded 7 years ago, which was 2018. Snowden leaked government documents 2014, so it is possible, that the Yelp website could have been accessed without HTTPS. However nowadays most websites are using encrypted connections and HTTP2 doesn't even allow unencrypted connections, so this hack wouldn't work. The browser would show a big warning message instead of loading a website, because it is usually impossible for the hacker to provide a valid security certificate, which the browser requires to load a website. The example in the video would not work nowadays.

The issue with this is that it’s a poor example. There are far better and more likely ways to hack in. XSS and CSRF far more likely to get you undetected when browsing social media

years ago i was working in a company, and one day company decided to gift everyone with amazing one week vocation in mexico all paid all included corporate event.
well… a few weeks before the actual flight, everybody got an email asking to fill in personal details like passport number ,etc..
of course almost eerybody clicked that link and authenticated using company credentials and filled out all the personal information.
few days later, a boss came in and few "security guys" with him and we had a huge company wide meeting.
it appears that 80% of company employees who clicked that link were actually hacked 🙂
total breach of all login and personal information 🙂
