It started with rain. Nothing unusual. A forecast for storms, the kind Texas has seen before. But in the dead of night, under clouds blacker than ink, the skies opened up. And within hours a peaceful Hill Country river turned into a monstrous torrent.

  1. I live in the Texas Hill Country. Im so sad for the loss of life, especially the little ones, but I dont understand. When it rains here, consistently, for days, one looks at the nearest creeks, (dry or not), rivers and lakes.
On July 3rd, local Austin news warned individuals in & on the Guadelope to seek higher ground.
Spots in the hilll country are jnown to have poor or zero cell service.
My heart goes to all the family's that lost loves ones.
Im positive "they" are all embraced in a love, peace, serenity beyond our minds capacity.

  2. This isn't climate change . . . this happens on average about every 15 years . . . just long enough between catastrophes for people to forget. The only thing that varies is the body counts. It's tragic that nothing is ever done to install some sort of warning system with sirens along the river . . . 119 dead in Kerr County . . . maybe this body count is high enough for those in authority to make some meaningful changes.

  3. That storm on July 4th was The perfect Storm why for one it was the weekend skeleton staff in all departments in the government nobody could do nothing until the weekend was over anyway then you got these people walking around here talking about how angry and uproar they feel what a bunch of dummies they're playing gotcha politics like anyone they put in place wouid have done any better

  4. God was pissed and punished them for putting an idol (Cheeto in Chief) in front of Him. No, seriously, they got what they voted for. Darwin awards. The exception, of course, was the campers. While I question the moral fiber of a Christian camp with the breadth of humanity represented akin to the Hitler Youth, campers come from all over, and very few of any were residents of Kerr county. I’d also like it noted that this camp was established over 100 years ago, well before there were any flood plain surveys. I’ve seen countless comments regarding the special kind of Texas stupidity it takes to put a girls’ camp in the middle of a flood plain. Nah, dummy. The camp was there first, and the area developed into the dangerous close plain AFTER years of development all over the hill country, which affected run off and the this created/expanded the flood plain.

  6. Some people pray for the victims and their families. Other people say we're praying to"an imaginary magician who lives on a cloud."
Do the parents bear any responsibility for letting their kids camp in a drought stricken flood plain? Do local politicians who didn't want to be awakened by sirens late at night bear any responsibility?

  7. My prayers go out to all the people who were devastated by this disaster. However, this needs to be a tough lesson for rhose who decided to build camp grounds and RV parks in a flood plain. I have seen many videos and documentaries about flash floods-+-especially in hot and dry areas like Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. People are constantly warned, NEVER to camp in dry stream beds, or near the banks of waterways. Stay on elevated ground. Having grown up in the Rocky Mountains, I understand how relaxing and calming it is, to be near water but you must respect it's power and the fact that it is unpredictable. My hometown of Colorado Springs learned this a few years ago, when a small town on the eastern slope of Pikes Peak known as Manitou Springs, suffered a catastrophic flash flood. Foutain Creek is a tiny, usually docile stream that flows down off the mountain but it became a raging torrent that nearly wiped the town out. These types of videos are so heartbreaking, especially ones of wildlife fbeing swept downstream. Imagine how terrified the people must have been. In last week's flood, warnings had been issued hours in advance but it was my understanding, that they had been ignored. If these camps and RV parks decide to re-open, they need to rebuild away from the flood plain. Here's hoping that they learn their lesson, especially after a similar flood in 1987. These stupid reports need to stop blaming "climate change". The climate chages everyday, it's called weather.

  9. So sad! R.I.P. My heart goes out to families of flood victims. Phone warning not good enough either. Sounds like the software used to forecast was an inaccurate, outdated POS.

  10. Now FEMA IS saying they were there from day one, a lie, they are just showing up , I am posting this July 13 2025, FEMA SHOWED DID NOT, DID NOT, SHOW UP UNTIL ORDERD BY trump WHICH WAS DAYS LATER, BELIEVE THAT

  11. Climate change had nothing to do with this because there has only been a very slight increase in global temperatures.

Bigger storms than this have happened 127 times in the last
    20 000 years
