The standard formula for affordability was that you can afford no more than 3 months take home pay for a new car. $6000 a month income for an $18,000 car was normal. Now, people think it is normal to buy a Hellcat for $100,000 on a take home pay of $3,000 per month. Then they are angry when the car is repo'd after 3 months. The average American cannot even afford a Hyundai Ionic 5.

These kinds of videos focus only on the negatives, but my experience is the complete opposite. My electric car is quiet, efficient, reliable, and the best purchase I’ve ever made. Being able to charge at home is the only thing that really matters.

You can not go across the desert without getting Stuck. It would be and expensive tow to the next charging station. EV's are never cost effective to buy or for repairs. In a flooded street the battery will catch on fire.and destroy your vehicle or the change you can stuckvinside and die.
This bloke is such a pessimist. Owning an EV is much easily and simpler than a fossil car. Most manufacturers give warranties of 8 to 10 years on the battery. I charge at home with a 3.5 kw portable charger. No problems.

Not sure how old this is, but EV's are now cheaper than obsolete ice. BYD in Australia is a good example. I have driven a GM Bolt EV for 7 years. No maintenance except rotate tyre's, and $10 cabin air filter. Most of my charging has been at home, about $5 a fill up, or many free charges on the road. Calculated I spent $400 / year, vs $5000 before with ice. I could never go back to those sluggish, smelly reciprocating ice vehicles.
If the worst problem is only around 300 miles of range and having to wait 20 minutes for supercharge rather than all the car maintenance expenses of changing oil , radiators, cooling systems , transmission, fuel and water pumps of internal combustion vehicles. I’ll take an electric car any day.

What nonsense. I have a Tesla model X which is driven long range and short range and already has 21k miles in about 7 months. I find none of the issues to be applicable to my situation. I save ton of money by charging at home and I have spent only $25 until now for tire rotation. The only expense I expect is for changing the tires at around 40-50k miles. The price is standard and surprise for these tires and it takes about 1-2 hours to replace while you wait. No brakes, oil change and flushes of various types needed.
Most cars have very little value after 8 years, buying a car is not an investment.
