Recently, the White House published a document detailing Trump’s new America First Trade Policy which mandates double taxation on foreign countries that discriminate against US citizens and businesses. The question is though, is this mandate likely to be even used, who is it meant to be used against, and if it is used – can it ever work?

3:56 Why Trump Likes it
6:57 Why the EU Should be Worried

Canada here, we are not Americas and never want to be. Who would want to be part of a country that bans Kinder Eggs but allows guns! No thank you
Listening to a Brit say WTF is going on in America while the UK in embroiled in some whack crap is like a level of irony no one has achieved in a conscious state.
Essentially we need to start taxing all US companies. 90% tax rate should do.
Excellent content, irritating repetition of word choices/ad ending
Thankfully, the EU is too big a market to pull out of for this to be anymore than a bluff.
Something the EU has already proved that it knows.
I feel like Trump risks pushing Europe closer to China when he threatens to do this.
Yes, I totally understand that it is “America first” but if he’s not careful in the long run he may really hurt his relationship with Europe.
To be honest if a company doesn’t pay the correct levels of taxes to a country they sell products in then they should be paying up.
I think if the US government start saying “well if you do this then we’ll make you pay for it” then the country that company is selling their product should just ban them from selling in their company.
I mean at the end of the day if the company wants to sell in a country then they follow their rules. If they don’t like the rules then they don’t need to sell there.
let me tell you something, if US companies want to be above the law in my country. I'm no longer buying ANY product made in or designed in the US.
They can keep their anti-consumer practices back at home.
There's Nazis on the moon. 😟
Europe threw her weight around the Middle East relying on US power without anything to give in return except showering democrat candidates with attention. Trump will put Europe in her place.
wants fairness while being unfair. just like russia.
The OECD building is pretty smart.
USA is going to slap those European cheeks !
If Europeans reject basic principles like freedom of speech then they aren't worth defending. Either leverage is used to bring them into line or the benefits cease.
Thanks to the dearth of innovation and tech coming out of Europe, the Europeans either get to deal with the US or the Chinese. Feel bad for ya.
Eu can just stop exporting ozpecic and Americas rich can’t be “skinny” anymore
Another fine example of how Europe continue to take advantage of the United States.
'Eu should get rid of the moderation censorship.
Elon Musk has a much better stand on this and those with better stands generally win. Either adopt or lose! I'm not sure whether Europe wants to lose to Trump and Musk.
I don't know and some say they aren't the best.'
Gonna be funny when the UK becomes the next 4 united states 😂
Canada and Europe should be strengthening their trade relations. Its america versus the rest of the world. If the rest of the world is united, then we can win
My reaction when the American first guy (Trump).
Actually puts American first.
The US is lashing out as its global power declines, and tech is one of the only real levers it has left on the world stage. We need to diversify away from the US as it becomes more volatile and insistent on getting its own way
As an American I'd suggest European union start respecting freedom of speech and stop pushing social media censorship or risk America giving European union a fight the European union won't survive
US trade deficit is dominated by China. But Trump impose 25% tariffs on Mexico & Canada but only 10% on China. Global trade war is inevitable.
No buying american stuff, good to know.
Time to change international partners i guess.
U.S tech companies are just massive piggy banks Europeans use. Youre welcome eurooeans, once more
Hiw about less state and less tax. EUSSR and Canuckistan are regressive as fuck !
Well to do for the USA. I wish Britbongostan aka Sodomite CCP Weimar Republic had leaders like Trump!
Lets make trouble with the EU, our biggest ally. I mean, all the other countries love us!
The EU can live without the US, it's about time we do something to be self sufficient.
Broh the USA is somehow gonna manage to fall apart quicker than Belgium, and we didn't even have a functioning government for 13% of the 21st century so far as well as constantly talking about splitting apart.
The orange man is driving away every allly the US still had.
Europe and the US have had an unwritten contract, or gentleman's agreement if you will, since WW2. Basically the US protects Europe and it's territories, in return we favor trade with them, back all their idiotic foreign policies, including voting for them in the UN(within reason), and let them use our land for geopolitical reach and dominance. Which btw is worth more than any amount of money can buy.
Now Trump has broken that contract, and Europe should act accordingly.
Even when European governments try and deregulate their own countries, they are rendered incapable by bureaucracy and unions. Trump has no chance.
Europe here: No, thanks.
Next.
Really looking forward to Europe Canada (and China) retaliating against Trump and Musk especially if they ditch the dollar as a reserve currency and sell off the 3.4 trillion dollars worth of bonds covering the US national debt.
The Federal Reserve will then be forced to put up interest rates which will push up US domestic inflation. The opposite of what Trump promised the MAGA morons who voted for him.🤣
On a personal level I have cancelled my Twitface accounts and I wouldn’t have aTosla if you paid me.
The EU should tax and fine them even harder..
Im going back to Nokia 😂
Resist this at all costs. Half of America is doing our best to derail this fascist regime.
Nebula isn't supported in my country 😆
The EU keeps “fining” our businesses. We need to stop protecting them. Let them fight their own wars. The EU is not our ally.
US isolation, Conflict in Europe, UN failure, American first policy, military industrialization rising…………………i'm starting to feel deja vu.
Between this, Greenland and other Trump positions on EU, Europe will finally get it together or collapse (just by accelerating an already existing trend…)
so let me get this straight: He wants to have more power for dipshit companies in america and expect the same treatment in europe? Nah, you cant have your cake and eat it too. Fuck Trump
The US doesn't have allies or partners, it has subjects. That has been increasingly evident since the turn of the millennium.
What about the prices of eggs?
We should do the same, force tech companies to be owned 50% by EU companies.
If not, just block them.
Ultimately it will be down to the people chosing to use them or not.
Europe's destiny is to be US side kick
Just become US state already
Is a “furoray” a cross between a furor and a foray?
