More than 70 million Americans are in the eye of a monster winter storm tonight. Thirty U.S. states, from the Midwest to the East Coast, are under weather alerts.

Already, states of emergency have been declared in Kansas, Arkansas, Kentucky, Virginia, and Missouri.

The winter blast is being fueled by a polar vortex that has pushed arctic air down through Canada. It is expected to bring the heaviest snowfall and coldest temperatures in over a decade.

  1. the good folks in Buffalo NY must be having a chuckle. I live in Canada and even I respect the weather in Buffalo.
    Been there for a weekend back in 71 with some air force buddies and that was a dump of snow. Like 6 ft. plus!
    They know how to handle it down there.
