Though I am an Indian immigrant from IIT Delhi living in the USA, I am astounded by how desperate the unemployed Indian US MS students are, how much stress they endure, and how much humiliation they endure to somehow find a way to prolong their job search in the US. I sympathize with them. A prolonged career gap is worse, so please find a job elsewhere. Your US MS degree is an asset that never disappears.

With respect, the report is not complete. The argument is not that Indians take skilled jobs like STEM jobs from Americans but many non STEM workers are being replaced in jobs that do not require higher education like restauration (Fast food, restaurants), services (Grocery stores, gas stations) and hospitality (hotels). This visas are for exceptional people were companies cannot find skilled workers locally. The jobs previously mentioned do not require a skilled work force. They also incentivise companies to hire for a fraction of the salary (slave/indentured labor) of what an average American worker would make and by doing so make more profits for the companies and limiting opportunities for American born citizens for low skilled labor. They are exploiting Indian workers paying them less what they truly deserve. In order for this Visas to be effective they would have to pay the same rate as for an American citizen and only for highly skilled worker. FYI many STEM American graduates are having a hard time finding a job because Indian students/workers are being paid pennies on the dollar. This is also good for futur Indian workers because they would have higher wages for truly skilled STEM job postings. Its a balance that must be maintained in order for the system to benefit all.

People from H1B from India take up the top roles, you cant replace them just like that. USA doesn't produce that many STEM students to meet demands. If they continue like this there will ne mass migration of companies entirely, either that or they can continue with sub standard engineers
