A barrage of over 80 rockets were fired from Lebanon into northern Israel on Monday, triggering sirens in the city of Haifa and leading to significant fires and damage in the suburb of Kiryat Ata. Interceptions could be seen above Haifa, Israel’s third largest city and a busy international port. The city’s Rambam hospital said three men wounded during the barrage were admitted for medical treatment. An Israeli army statement said that nearly 200 rockets in total were launched from Lebanon into Israel on monday. Saudi-hosted summit says Mideast peace requires end to Israeli occupation. The Lebanese militant group Hezbollah started firing rockets into Israeli border communities after a Hamas attack on October 7, 2023.
