This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. There’s a new buzz phrase in tech circles these days: The Internet of Things. And it’s promising to be bigger than the Internet and the World Wide Web ever was. But what is it? And how will it impact our everyday lives? Will it help me? Should I be worried?
Benson Hougland has a passion for technology of all kinds that drives a deep desire to make his work and the world around him better. His interests include making wine, making music, and making memories with family and friends in activities like boating, camping, and traveling.
Benson is a 17-year Temecula resident, husband, and father of two elementary school boys and an adult daughter. As vice president at Opto 22, a local software developer and hardware manufacturer of products used in the industrial automation and information technology markets, he’s responsible for product evolution, marketing, training, and communications.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

This is lit! Enjoyed every bit of this IOT presentation!
fascinating to see this presented as an inherently "good" thing and not the insane violation of privacy that it is and has been

Everything going to plan guys nothing to worry about, i guess
Sick control freaks are taking control of everything. They want to connect the internet to everything on Earth
And yet they haven't detected COVID-19
❤✨👍
Today it became a full course on the university, I need to learn this for my exam
I want this Sir as a teacher.
You sheeple line right up
Can't you people see they are building a cell a jail for you
You're talking about the singularity
CBDCs and Social Credit are the end game. All roads lead to dependance on the system.
Humanity is lost——-by fools such as he!!!!!!!! 16:36
I have never done the internet
Great talk…
good job!
This is the best class I ever attended! Pretty elaborate and simple to understand the in-depth insights as related to IoT!! Thank you Benson!
Wow. I'm watching in 2023 and it's still amazing
😱 I just discovered the term IoT last week!
If this isn't the most terrifying thing you've ever heard…you don't get how dangerous this actually is. The most chilling part is how non-chalant this guy tells us all how we are going to be enslaved. Anyways…
this has definitely aged well, life is definitely now IoT and eventually settling into IoE (Internet of Everything)
loved it !!!
Masterclass on the introduction to IoT.
This is my homework- help me

this has been helfpul for my mba presentation. thanks!
outstanding!!
IoT is the last piece of the puzzle needed to create the absolute totalitarian dystopian society that geeks like this have been dreaming about for decades. And we fools will cheer it in as it descends upon us.
You said a lot of important things and now I understand why we must use this technology. IoT enables human-to-human, machine-to-machine, and human-to-machine interactions that will shape how our automobiles operate.
The proof is putting words inalphabetical order is not achieved yet, yet to be implemented. All the ai super computer net guff i hear is all hot air. None of it works.
3dmdb is one of the biggest thing search engines. Sorry exact text for business use not even close.
Google tested today not even close.
Tell me anyone can find my business to pay me. I cant find me.
And i know im there.
Thieves and pirates are winning cause they can buy and manipulate the results to appear above the genuine license holder. They steel.
Pirates sure look like they won the net. They appear to own it.
Test it. I have lot and lot and lots of times.
I feel like ive worked hard to not get paid while pirate lives well.
Im not impressed at all.
We dont have working search engines yet in 2022. So much for the net being usefull. Infact its only gotten worse cause now theres more of it that cant be searched properly. A magga mess and growing so failing more each day. Exact text search SORRY not implemented yet when searching for things. Sort by oldest SORRY not working yet. This person in vid had the teck dream like me. But putting words in alphabetical order is not implemented for business use yet. Its all remaining a dream.
3d printing.
Cnc milling.
Laser cutting.
Cgi.
These industries are a disaster when it comes to the net. Try being in business its pathetic. The net and coders are almost useless. Pen and paper would be a giant leap forward compared to the current failure of faulty systems.
In my opinion the nets a utter fail.
Coders cant code worth a dam.
My net is intermitant at best.
Not that it would make any difference. I just tested googles search engine. Failed test badly.
Teck dream? It remains a dream.
Great explanations. Thank you so much
i was afraid to watch it. As most of Indians i watch on tedex talk out how they got more subs on youtube. This is too good thankyou.
Talking IoT security in 2014. Now in 2022, crypto and blockchains are poised to decentralize the IoT. JASMY is a notable project in this space.
as an average PC gamer, i did not realize so many of these THINGS were already available so many years ago, like any one of these wearable instruments would be a significant boost to my quality of life
Why on earth would anyone want to live in this reality? If the IoT does all this what will we humans have to do? I bet BIG business cares, tracking our every move 24/7. IoT signals the turning point when humanity started to lose the ability to function and think as autonomous beings and the tech started to take over. Off to burn my smart phone.
I like how everyone has werote like an email while i said I LUV DIS
I LUV DIS
One of the best presentations
thats the best way to introduce IOT to newbies
