India should do developmental modification for localisation of AL31 on any one engine for further research and rest all should be left under warranty from Russia

Russia is not wrong in its stance. If DRDO is making majority of engine, it needs to assume responsibility.
If you remember, similar issue was raised by Dessault while discussing warranty on Make in India Rafales.

The majority manufacturer will need to ensure responsibility.

DRDO needs to bump up the indigenous content to 80% and then take over warranty responsibility.

I think India should focus on AMCA. Because it provides us capability to modify further and encourage local products
