After months of campaigning and voting, India’s marathon election has thrown big surprises for the incumbent #NarendraModi and the opposition #INDIA bloc. While the governing National Democratic Alliance secured enough seats to form a government, the BJP has lost its parliamentary majority for the first time in a decade. Meanwhile, the opposition INDIA bloc led by the Congress Party defied the odds to make significant gains and claim more than 40 per cent of seats in the 543-seat lower house – the #LokSabha.

INDIA VOTES 2024, presented by the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) is a six-episode series that takes you on an insightful journey through the heart of Indian democracy. While the Indian Prime Minister #NarendraModi is seeking a third term, a brand new Coalition is on the bloc – the I.N.D.I.A (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance) featuring key opposition leaders such as Congress scion #RahulGandhi, TMC leader #MamataBanerjee, and AAP leader #Arvind Kejriwal among many others.

INDIA VOTES 2024 goes beyond the headline and daily coverage to explain critical topics and issues facing Indian voters as they participate in the elections of the world’s largest democracy.

42 thoughts on “Indian Election Results: Five shocking outcomes for Narendra Modi and the BJP | India Votes 2024”
  1. Modi's dirty policits came to end!
He was the worst PM in the history – BJP is actually a great party and has many good leaders! Modi spoiled all hardwork of this party! Massive set back

  2. Now it's evident to show how corrupt the outside world is to divulge into Indian politics. As a S. African Indian, one will see how non political Congress will be in the next 5 yrs.India will be in a disarray if Congress gets their say in ruling " Bharat " .

  3. Shows Indian Democracy is healthy . Modi is back for 3 rd term . Great news for India and Im sure Modi wil work on the few areas. ABC can you please cover Opposition proclaimed leader's achievments let me think 1. Born to Rajeev Gandhi 2. Rajeev Gandhi born to Indira Gandhi 3. Indira Gandhi born to Nehru .hmm not sure how Gandhi name got hijacked by these family politicians . On Contrast Modi came from the bottom to Top and puts Indias intrest first.

  4. Why is the comment section in previous modi video turned off. So many misleading information like India did not have ssecular and socialist written in the constitution when it was written, it was unconstitutionally shoved in during congress's rule by applying emergency and putting opposition in jail.

  5. It's shameful that the urban populations who are supposed to be educated that support the divisive politics of the BJP. Only the elites benefited by the contraversisl policies of Modi. The rural populations did not fall for Modi's rhetoric. Hope this election will stop the slide into fascism.

  6. It's seems all the Modi blind devotees from WhatsApp University came together in the comments section 😂😂😂 because of congress and I.N.D.I.A. block success.

What about Modi More than 400 seats?😂
BJP couldn't even secure majority seat how about that 😂
Last term Modi passed more than 150 bill and Act without any debate but this time it will not be possible 😊sad but true 😅

  7. BHARATIYA 2024 ELECTIONS: SOME TAKEAWAYS
    (1) The shine has worn off NAMO and the BJP.
    (2) The Hundutva politics do not sell.
    (3) Anti-Muslim and anti-Pakistan slogans have no resonance either in the cow belt or rest of Bharat.
    (4) Don’t get carried away by your own PR drumbeat.

The sagacity of the Bharatiya voter is praiseworthy 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Finally, ‘it’s the economy, stupid (James Carville).’ The unemployed and the impoverished farmers spoke loudly.

  8. The last few weeks of western media blindly amplifying Indian opposition’s narrative of EVM, Democracy backsliding bla bla and the result of Indian elections show that the you guys do not even understand 1% of India and its politics or society!! You just amplify any nonsense reason the Indian opposition gives to justify its losses! Where is your accountability now??

  9. What shame when someone is trying to help the country and people without thinking of himself. Such a shame. We looking upon the country and where India is today and recognised around the world.
Modiji you are the best and your party!

  10. spokes person chandrachur singh is biased..major part of obc (other backward class) schedule caste and schedule tribe did not vote BJP ..because one parliamentarian of bjp said we will change constitution if we get 400 seats…the main reason for loss of majority of BJP….
