  1. This sounds promising unless the sand's ability to store energy wears out somehow and has to be replaced, exacerbating sand shortages. I wonder what is different about sand that's not suitable for construction. Sand is the result of wearing down, so it's likely it's energy storage ability exacts a price and that lifespan is probably limited also.
