49 thoughts on “Is India On Track To Be A Great Power? Political Scientist John Mearsheimer | India China Relations”
  1. To the commentators below: The word "GREAT" is used in GEOPOLITICAL context of GREAT POWER RIVALRY – not in terms of saying" look at me, Im powerful" India NEEDS TO BE A GREAT POWER if it is not allow China to contain it as well as to militarily challenge its civilisation longevity, which like MEIJI JAPAN, China will do (just wait 10-15 years ).
India's founding fathers always wanted PEACE with China, it is China's gung-ho ultranationalist militant leaders with expansionist mindset that put rest to it in 1962 and ever since. So India has no option but to be GREAT POWER because it is surrounded y rogue states………and it will become one.

  2. There are too many armchair economists around. No ground experience. Statistics only tell half the story. How do you determine the mind, leadership, education, foresight and will of the people?

  3. Indian may emerge a super power as in drown of Russian The Indian played significant and Indian may also down China as well due to the Democracy talks. Indian divided Pakistan in past they have experience may be China understand the Indian.

  4. Eventually it made way for Nixon to visit China in 72. And rest is history and we know how China rose to these heights.. Even Mearsheimer predicted in 90s that China is the bigger threat to USA than USSR..

  5. He's being diplomatic. Population size not a prerequisite to be a great power, UK in 20th century, Russia in 21st century. Both are medium size. China is an exception case. High populations are harder to even develop, require more resources, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, Nigeria, Brazil, Bangladesh…
Instead of population size, ability to produce your own technology is far more critical.

  6. India banned to and fro flights to India by Chinese airlines. . Earlier there were 2 flights every day. India gave a bloody nose to China in three clashes on borders. India banned Chinese participation in Indian infrastructure tenders. Protected bhutanese territory by placing army in Bhutan. India supplied arms to Vietnam and Philippines, made a security pact with Singapore, kept Chinese backed Myanmar Junta under control. Countered China in Sri Lanka , Maldives and Bangladesh. Is filling up supply chain deficiencies and countering Chinese trade tactics. Single handedly India is fighting china though with small but crucial tactical support from USA.
All this while major world powers don't know how to deal with china..
But unfortunately the major world powers in Europe , Canada and USA are trying to control India by raising bogeys of human rights abuse and human rights of Islamists, though they dont say a word about Ugyur muslim abuses in China.

  7. CHINA never aims to be No.1 or to replace any country leading the world. What China is and have been working on is to come back as a great civilization that it used to be.

  8. China n India had been subjugated by d West.. particularly d Anglo-Saxon in d past. They used d divide n conquer tactic to weaken others so that they can dominate u n to be d most wealthy n powerful countries in d world.

  9. Looking at the comments i can see Chinese and Pakistani bots are working hard to effect the 2024 elections and redicule India 😂😂 but aega to modi hi and we will out grow every country in the world 🤫🤫

  10. I think the majority of us would like to ask this question: If war with China is indeed inevitable, would it be most advantageous for us to wage it now while China is still attempting to rise instead later when their military is fully developed & able to match our capabilities?

  11. India and China have maintained friendly relations for thousands of years in history. The minor frictions in recent decades are temporary and will not affect our long-term friendship.

  12. Take it from me, although the Chinese Communist Party use fearmongering tactics, it lacks the stomach for a war, because they are wise enough to understand that regardless of who wins the war, they will not be the same power at the end of it, both economically and militarily.

  13. Of course India have to solve major problems like Poverty, unemployment, income disparity to make our growth more inclusive. The more people overcome poverty, more increase in consumption and more increase in GDP. Government need to focus on developing skills in labour, as India has extreme shortages of skilled labour. That's why many companies leaving China are settled in Vietnam, Indonesia, Mexico. However Modi government somehow managed the inflation under control, whereas developed economies like Europe, USA, Japan are scrambling. Along with that we need to invest in R&D work, which is very little.

  14. Wait, this is another interview on India? He did an interview with annoying Palki a month ago. He already told Palki that India is not yet big time, nor a global #1 power by a mile.

Indians don’t need to hear Mearsheimer again and again!!

  15. I think Indonesia , be the second power ,don't see India coming ! Greedy rich makes them impossible, for everyone wants big money that foreign investors cannot afford, for they be changed out when their investment is making money . Using corruption and gangsters to benefit the take overs !
