  2. As someone who majored in International Relations. I can tell you that I do lament at times I was not more practical like pursuing a finance or engineering degree. Especially in today’s economy. Minored in Mandarin Chinese thinking I was going to work for Dept of Defense or a government agency. And thank god that didn’t work out. Especially now with everyone in the government losing their jobs. Plus federal government does, understandingly, want control in every aspect of your life (where you live, how often you see your family, your social circle). I work in finance now. Wanted to switch to finance halfway through my sophomore year but it would’ve taken me another year in college and couldn’t afford it. Now, all that being said there is opportunities in data analysis with this major. That I will give it. But honestly you’re better off focusing on engineering or business degree. But like me, if it is already too late, you can still use your education in International Relations to pivot to data analysis, Human Resources, and finance.

  3. Nice, greeting from bachelor of IR from Indonesia. I wish I can continue forward for taking my master degree abroad, and have international experience globally. Will be coming soon😊✨🙏

  4. Nah! I'll definitely going to do my masters in IR, currently I'm in my 3rd year of bachelor's in political science, and will apply for masters in IR from Australia, and going to be the next UN security council head🗿🗿
Just wait for me António I'll soon be there!

  5. Studying international relations has been one the greatest things ever happen to me because it’s a wide spectrum that teaches your politics , economics and law amongest others but adding up new skills like languages makes you even more valuable, powerful and unstoppable.
This course is not only for resolving the current issues but also the past and not forgetting using our negotiation techniques and strategies to shape our future for all generations to come .

  6. Getting my Masters in International Relations and Global Security. Paid for by the VA. I couldn't tell you if it's worth it compared to other degrees if the tuition isn't covered. I have years of experience in the military, law enforcement, intelligence, and AML spaces and it's an MA (vs MS from something like International Studies from something like Georgetown U's School of Foreign Services) and I've been just over 6 figures for the last few years, but that's not counting benefits.

  7. Like you said Shane this IR major is something you need to look into deeply and know what path your going to take with this degree. I did just that and I am majoring in IR with a minor in Economics. Then I will aim to get my masters through the Rangel fellowship program offered by the US Dept. of State and hopefully if I am selected I can serve as a Foreign Service Economic Officer or as a Foreign Service Political Officer basically a Diplomat career to work overseas at either a US Embassy or US Consulate. Wish me luck. 🤞🤞

  8. Great video, I wish I had that information back in 2010 when I decided to study IR. Just a fancy, useless degree, without the right connections you will end up working some bullshit job like millions of people with or without degree.

  9. So in fact,I'm a freshman. It is like a foundation course in my first semester for I.R. And I don't have any idea on whay subject should I focus more, there are like two sides Politics and Business… So am I supposed to choose Business to make sure I have more opportunities?

  10. If somebody acquires a masters and a PhD in international relations without having a bachelors in international relations, can he be able to work in an academic institution? Or does he have to have studied as an undergraduate in the first place?

  11. My sister graduated with IR degree. After that, she took civil service 2 times until she made it. She became a contractual staff in our university until she became a regular employee and got promoted 3 years ago. Atleast her salary had increased.Although my mom is encouraging her to take up masters
