Kolkata Rape & Murder: Doctors Stage Protests Across India; CM Mamata Banerjee Seeks CBI Probe

Junior doctors in India have called a nationwide strike in response to the rape and murder of a 32-year-old trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The protests are being staged in cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and others. The trainee doctor’s body was discovered on August 9 in a seminar hall, with the autopsy revealing she had been sexually assaulted before being strangled and smothered to death. Kolkata Police have arrested a civic volunteer linked to the case, who allegedly tried to destroy evidence. The ongoing strike has led to the resignation of RG Kar Medical College Principal Sandip Ghosh. Junior doctors are calling for a speedy investigation and have demanded that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) take over the case, a fast-track court, and improved safety measures. FORDA General Secretary Dr Sarvesh Pandey has stated that the strike will continue until these demands are met. Meanwhile, BJP leaders are questioning West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s silence on the matter.

  1. Modi ji please bring strong laws for girls and women. If a guy even thinks about touching a girl, he should be soo scared that he’d wet his pants just for having that thought.

  2. Shame to see how West Bengal politics has evolved and they have promoted a culture of violence. God knows when will people of West Bengal open up their minds. What was West Bengal before independence and what it has become gradually is shameful. Pathetic state of affairs. It is good that I was born in Maharashtra. I thank god for that.

  3. Roots of the problem are:

    1. Justice system is so fragile that there's no harsh punishments for these kind of acts.

    2. Police are weak.

    3. MOST IMPORTANT: P*rnography, and even movies (especially Bollywood) these days objectify women so badly, most of the movies don't come without an item song in it.

The 3rd point is destroying our youths mentality like hell, their mentality shapes their behavior and attitude towards women.

The shitty movie makers have lost all their human values, and became Animals. If they don't have any excellent ideas for making a movie, they introduce Violence and S*x in the movie, which is easy way to attract our youth. They don't care about our mental health, all they want is to make money.

  4. Given the state of anarchy, the worsening law and order situation, and the ongoing atrocities, including rape and murder of women in West Bengal, it is imperative that President's rule be imposed without delay.

  5. It is gang rape and murder case of an on duty lady doctor and the rapist are from inside the college and also they are using the civic volunteer as scape goat ….They have not taken any actions and the principal was trying to cover the case by saying it suicide…and also we are not getting mass reporting…..sad because local people are not showing any support 😢

  6. One can blame the government all they want but violence against doctors on duty is nothing new. Stabbing, physical assaults is a common news. Most doctors who are caught in the cross fire are junior doctors who are overwhelmed, work in pathetic conditions and in toxic environments. I myself use to sleep in blood bank while on duty cause we didn’t have any doctor’s duty room. And worst part is that PGTs and Seniors Residents aren’t even paid well.

  7. So, Mr. Suman, where is the solution? Now a days media/rulling party wants to have only one government like an autocracy same as Hitler/Mussolini because only then their prescribed company can earn something, as their party will, so there is no common Indian. If your channel doing same thing for every party, then I have no problem. but I think in West Bengal there are lot of reasonable persons after listening to you. Sir, you are a great person in bengali media now a days. Maybe we will meet or not, but please keep in your mind that all of the Indian people only love India & they can die upon on it everyday.

  8. Your protests been taken advantage of being.. Show,. Like a herds(goat) it's pity on these educated people asking for justice… What supremecourt looking for.. Evidence.. They live n die with evidences❤😂

  9. What justice you want.. U unable to telll.. Just came out to protest… Why pdont ask for prevention authorities lapses… Not to happen in future, can you protest all the time.. How bro… Am I right.. 😊
