It's terrible to see innocent people killed, for what ever reason. The US has unending gun attacks killing thousands every year. Are those incidents not a terrorism? The distinction seems to be because he pledged allegiance to the Islamic state versus just being a crazed mass murderer. One is somehow worse than the other.
Peter hit a racist nerve that instantly triggered racists. It is so inherent to Americans that half ( or more it seems ) of the comments are gut reactions based on the inherent racism. Look how quickly that 1/2 of Americans goes to fear and even babbles about the Second Amendment as their racist nerves are triggered. The statistics prove the risk of your child being murdered while sitting in a classroom by a Right Wing "radical" is much greater than these random self-radicalized individuals. If you didn't get the entire point of how rare these events are it is because you were triggered by your own radicalization by a political party, which rules by dividing through lies, fear, and banking on racism. It is a very successful tactic, as most of the comments clearly show. He isn't downplaying the tragedy, he is pointing out the greater tragedy of an easily led predictable knee-jerk reaction of half the fearful population tricked into fearing things that aren't the biggest dangers.
Most people are not murderous assholes…. but that doesn't sell ad space on cable news.

honestly as a muslim, i dont know how to explain this but i'll try, Islam prohibits such type of behavior against innocent people, "Innocent" as in those who are unarmed and are unable to defend themselves. Even if they're anti-islam, let alone if they're normal non-muslims. I think it is really fair for you to assume that islam glorifies these acts of violence. Which is 100% unarguably are acts of terrorism. But you'd be surprised to know how many groups are claiming to be Muslims and claiming that they follow the rules of Islam. One of those groups is Da'esh (داعش) these mfs adapted their own understanding about islam and are accepted as terrorists. But one group that I bet you never knew were adapting whatever their mind pleases from islam and leave the rest of the religion is……..
