I'm commenting months after the election. I want to start off by saying that I like Bill overall and I agree with him on alot of issues. I do disagree with him on a number of things but as any adult should know that is hardly the end of the world. But unfortunately he really missed the mark on this one. As much as it may kill him to admit Trump had a point about the prices. The democrats handed him that point by speaking the exact rhetoric he was in this video. And having a bunch of well off celebrities repeating this along with them only drove the voters further away. All of this data and talking points fall flat when you go to the grocery store and find that you only have enough money to feed your family for 3 days and pay is 5 days away. This was and still is my reality. Did this make me vote for Trump? No. But it did make me not vote for Kamala. Why would I vote for someone whom I can't support who also downplays the problems I and many others are having? Because she isn't as awful as the other one? That's just not enough. All the aggressively anti-common sense stuff definitely hurt her and the other democrats. But that wasn't the only thing that screwed them. This was death by a thousand cuts. I hope the democrats can unfuck themselves in the future. But for now? As Bill would later say, they blew it.
I always wondered why people said the economy was doing so well at the end of Biden's term when the "struggling" economy and high grocery prices were such a focus in the campaigns. So the democrats chose to run on "things are terrible in America right now but we can fix everything" and ironically, the voters didn't believe that they could fix a single thing when they had, in fact, basically already fixed the economy.

As a foreigner, I really do think that Americans blow the cost of livong out of proportion. I have friends who work im the US, but not in cities. And they can save up SO MUCH MONEY. Just move.

Great example of how the stats used to measure economic health have become increasingly detached from the reality that most people actually experience every day. “Experts” and those who swear by them wave around stats and figures, claiming that the economy has never been better, while an overwhelming majority of people agree that they are struggling more economically now than they were years ago. Not saying Trump will necessarily be better, but the left’s continued whistling past the economic graveyard lost them another election.
Groceries have more than doubled in the last four years without pay increases to match. That's called a shitty economy.

I think Bill is misinformed. No one i know is doing good financially. No one is spending money on things they dont 100% need to survive. Many people i know, including muself, are not even buying Christmas gifts because we dont have the money.
It's easy to cite simple numbers for the economy, but you can't fool the people who do live here. 4%, but some of the lowest participation rates since women entered the job market (meaning it looks like 4% because many just gave up). High per capita growth, but also high inflation mixed with disproportionate transfer of wealth to the upper classes.
It takes more than a few numbers, it takes context. And for most of Americans, they simply aren't better. As the joke goes, "our economy is great. Yours', however…."

Bill like too many forget that averages are meaningless. On average the economy looks great. Except the reality is that most do pretty well but a large group is going poorly. A lot of people don’t get raises. If your business volume is down then the people and owners are working less, often a lot less. If you get paid by the job and fewer are hiring you, you aren’t doing well.
Bill is just like a Dallas Cowboys fan. No matter how terrible his team is. He stays loyal at the end of the day!!!

Millions of people lost more than half their net worth (in terms of value of money) due to inflation. The others? When you don’t have shit, you don’t have shit to lose. A guy making minimum wage before the pandemic is still in a shit financial position after it. A couple who managed to put $100k away for retirement now realizes it’s worth $50k in buying power and won’t get them through. Hundreds of thousands of businesses closed permanently, millions will enter retirement destitute. And all that Bill and others could parrot was how great the economy was.
