Associate Professor Kotaro Tadano at the Precision and Intelligence Laboratory is developing a surgical assist robot for laparoscopic surgery in close collaboration with Tokyo Medical and Dental University. The most unique feature of the robot system is its utilization of pneumatic actuators, which contribute to reduced weight of the system and provide contact force feedback to the operator.
